Tail Waggers has established The Hope Fund in honor of Hope, a 7-month old kitten that was set on fire and left to die. Tail Waggers helped Hope by looking after her and bringing her to the tremendous veterinarians at Michigan State University. Through several procedures, they were able to save Hope's life.
The Hope Fund enables us to provide financial assistance to families who are in need when their pet is in a crisis situation. Our goal is to work with families to help off-set some of their medical costs or pay for services so that euthanasia can be avoided. More times than not euthanasia occurs because there isn’t "insurance" for animals, qualifying for Care Credit is not an option and payment programs are non-existent. We feel that pet owners should NEVER be put in the situation to make this decision because they don’t have enough money due to circumstance beyond their control.
Since Tail Waggers is not a full service veterinary clinic, we cannot perform these emergency operations ourselves. Instead, we act as a liaison with the family and guide them to a veterinarian who specialize in emergency cases. Here, they can assess the situation and give their insight on the situation. We want to do everything in our power to assure these families get the help they deserve for the animals they love.
All requests for The Hope Fund are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and communication with the providing veterinarian is necessary. Decisions are made based on (most importantly) quality of life for the animal, funding, and the owners' ability to continue follow-up care.
The Hope Fund is the MOST IMPORTANT program and FUNDING is necessary for it to survive. Emergency assistance can ONLY be given if FUNDING is available. Emergency assistance normally costs more than just a routine appointment so ANY donations made on behalf of this program are appreciated!
